1000 Islands Wellness & Treatment Centre is proud to announce that Chris Fagan, CEO, and founder of the Centre has won the 1000 Islands Gananoque & Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Of The Year award for 2019. At the Annual Chamber Awards Ceremony, Chris was presented with the award as well as recognition from MP Michael Barrett and MPP Steve Clark for his exemplary contributions to the 1000 Islands community.
Chris and The 1000 Islands Wellness & Treatment Centre have been key Community Partners in saving lives from Drug & Alcohol Addiction. “Many people don't realize all of the things that Chris does for the Community. He has donated so many beds for victims of Human Trafficking in Eastern Ontario all at no cost. When someone is in need, he doesn't hesitate to step in no matter the time or location...” notes Director of Community Relations, Joe Baptista.
Baptista notes, “As the former Mayor and past 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber President, I recognize that community leaders like Chris don't come along very often and we were pleased that he chose the 1000 Islands as the place to save lives.” Chris works closely with local law enforcement to help deal with the growing problem of Human Trafficking and forced addiction. By donating treatment to these individuals Chris has made a major difference and saved the lives of many of these victims.
Chris himself suffered from addiction and his journey towards sobriety and recovery inspired him to open his centre. The 1000 Islands Wellness & Treatment Centre is now recognized as one of the premier Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities in Canada and a member of the regional Municipal Drug Strategy team.
